This piece consists of three movements, the second of
which is a "Canzone" - a gentle, lilting song with a lyrical feel,
framed by two faster, livelier movements, all of which can be performed
as individual pieces in their own right. The final movement, 'Gita' is
featured as a diploma piece on the Associated Board exam syllabus in the
UK. The entire piece requires a proficient four-mallet technique. |

The title describes the relentless nature
of this piece, with its repetitive driving quaver rhythms. Respite is
given by interruptions from a distinctive, slow descending motif, but
the quavers soon return, giving the piece its exciting, motoring
quality. A proficient four-mallet technique is required. |
